Kettle-boiled. Hand-rolled.
Beloved.
Twenty-plus years of crisp-outside, dense-inside bagels — and a kitchen that turned bagel-mornings into full-service catering for offices, weddings, and every gathering in between.
A Long Island bagel shop, with a twist of culinary creativity.
Brendel's started in 2002 with one simple idea — that a good bagel should be the kind of thing people stop in for, again and again. We kettle-boil ours the old way: a crisp shell, a dense, fluffy inside, baked fresh every morning before the doors open.
It worked. Two decades later we're still here, but the kitchen kept growing. What started as a bagel shop became a full-service eatery and a catering operation that feeds offices, weddings, and family celebrations from Hauppauge to Glen Cove. Same ingredients, same care — just for fifty people instead of two.
The promise hasn't changed since day one: traditional tastes, a little creativity, the finest ingredients we can find, and a team that genuinely loves feeding people.
Four steps to a perfect bagel.
Nothing fancy — just the way bagels were meant to be made. The shortcuts most shops take are exactly the ones we don't.
Hand-rolled, every batch
Every bagel rolled by hand on the bench — no extrusion machines, no shortcuts. You can see the difference in the bite.
Kettle-boiled the old way
Boiled in a kettle before they ever hit the oven. That's what gives the crisp shell, dense crumb, and chew you remember.
Real ingredients only
Boar's Head meats and cheeses. Fresh produce. House-made spreads. If we wouldn't eat it ourselves, it doesn't go on the menu.
Baked fresh every morning
Bagels, muffins, danishes, spreads — baked and made fresh before the doors open. Yesterday's bagels don't leave the building.
Two decades. One island. A whole lot of bagels.
More than just bagels.

A Brendel's tradition: the bride, the bridesmaids, a hot tray of bagels and lox before the dress goes on.
Meet the brideWe feed the island we live on.
Hauppauge to Glen Cove, Smithtown to Garvies Point — the Brendel's delivery van is a familiar sight on Long Island roads. We've fed Monday morning meetings at Suffolk County offices, school faculty rooms in Centereach, bridal suites in Huntington, milestone birthdays in Centerport. The orders change. The way we do them doesn't.
